Masdar and "Azerbaijan Green Energy Company" (AGEC) to explore the development of a 100 MW round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy project in Nakhchivan.
Renewables.az reports that the company announced this.
The project would build on Masdar’s pioneering work in Abu Dhabi, where it is developing a world-first US$6.1 billion gigascale RTC renewable energy project.
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, said: “The Garadagh project has established a strong foundation for Masdar in Azerbaijan, and the agreement with AGEC provides an opportunity to build on this experience by exploring round-the-clock renewable energy generation.”
Khayala Naghiyeva, Deputy Chairman of Executive Board of AGEC, said: “Exploring round-the-clock renewable energy generation in Nakhchivan is an important step toward developing more sustainable energy solutions for Azerbaijan.”
The cooperation agreement between Masdar and Azerbaijan Green Energy Company (AGEC) on the development of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan was signed on September 14 as part of a meeting between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Adviser. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, and Khayala Naghiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of AGEC.
