A meeting was held between Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, and a delegation led by David Reed, the United Kingdom's Trade Commissioner for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

During the meeting, it was noted that the long-standing and successful energy cooperation between the two countries, particularly the implementation of the Contract of the Century, the Southern Gas Corridor, and other energy infrastructure projects in the oil and gas sector with the participation of bp, has played a significant role in strengthening bilateral relations. It was also highlighted that cooperation with the company is expanding through new projects, including the construction of a solar power plant in Jabrayil, which will contribute to the decarbonisation of an oil and gas terminal.

The parties discussed opportunities to expand cooperation on offshore wind energy, solar energy, and electricity interconnector projects. The strategic importance of the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor, as well as electricity interconnections with Türkiye, Bulgaria, and other countries in the region, was emphasized. Preparations for the next meeting of the Azerbaijan-United Kingdom Intergovernmental Commission were also reviewed.
