GE Vernova has produced 25GW of wind turbine capacity at its Salzbergen facility in Germany, marking a manufacturing milestone for the site, according to renews.

The company said the facility has been a key manufacturing hub for its wind business for nearly three decades and assembles nacelles integrating more than 2,600 components.

GE Vernova added that the milestone comes as global electricity demand rises and the need to decarbonise energy systems accelerates.

The Salzbergen site forms part of the company’s European wind operations and highlights the role of industrial strength, resilience and partnership in scaling the energy transition.

“Reaching 25 GW in Salzbergen is a significant milestone for our team and a strong proof point of what it takes to scale wind energy successfully,” said Dimitri Schneider, senior director, GE Vernova's Wind business.

“This achievement reflects the strength of our people, our manufacturing discipline, and the close partnerships we have built across the value chain.

“In today’s market, resilience and execution are as important as innovation.”

GE Vernova said it is focused on a workhorse strategy that concentrates on fewer, proven platforms and continuous improvement to deliver reliability at scale.

The company employs more than 25,000 people across Europe, with Germany serving as an important hub for innovation and industrial capability.

GE Vernova said it has supplied more than 5GW of wind projects in Germany and that approximately 30% of the country’s electricity is generated by its technologies.

The company said it supports energy systems around the world through a portfolio of technologies helping generate approximately 25% of the world’s electricity.
