A new plant for the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems is set to be established in Kazakhstan. The project is a joint venture of Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP with Envision Energy, a global leader in green energy. The facility will have an annual output of 250 wind generator sets and 100 energy storage system units, according to the press service of Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP (KUS).
On January 17, a capsule-laying ceremony marked the commencement of construction in the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) "Khorgos - Eastern Gateway" in the Zhetisu region.
With a total investment of $40 million, the plant will significantly contribute to the development of renewable energy in Kazakhstan, creating over 300 jobs. Sixty percent of production will cater to the domestic market, while 40% will be exported to Central Asia and the Caucasus. Initially, the share of Kazakhstani content will be 30%, gradually increasing to 90% in subsequent phases.

Kazakhstan is actively expanding its renewable energy sector with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. The construction of this plant is a major step forward, with operations slated to begin in the third quarter of 2026. Leveraging Envision Energy's expertise, the plant will help meet national targets to reduce emissions and boost the share of renewable energy in the overall energy mix.
The facility will have a production capacity of 2 GW of wind energy generation per year, translating to 250 wind generator sets annually. Additionally, it will produce energy storage systems with a capacity of 1 GWh per year, amounting to 100 units annually.
