West Kazakhstan Region is set to see major green energy developments this year, with the construction of wind, solar, and hybrid power plants totaling 80 megawatts in capacity, according to 24KZ.
Local authorities have already designated a site near the entrance to the regional capital for the new wind power plant. A solar facility is also planned for the village of Poima in the Terekty district. The contractor for the solar plant will be selected next month following the completion of tender procedures.
In addition, a third major energy project is in the pipeline — a hybrid power plant to be built in the village of Onega. This facility is designed to supply electricity to the remote Zhanibek and Bokeiorda districts.
“A hybrid power plant combines multiple energy sources into a single integrated system. In our case, this will include both solar and gas generation, with a total capacity of 5 megawatts,” said Beimbet Mussin, Deputy Head of the Regional Department of Energy and Utilities.
Mussin noted that the construction site has already been selected and a memorandum of cooperation has been signed with the implementing company, which is now preparing to deliver equipment to the site. The hybrid plant is expected to be commissioned in 2026.
