Azerbaijan and Georgia to intensify activities on interconnector projects

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili.

During the meeting, it was noted that there is brotherhood, partnership and strong cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in all areas. Strong relations between the heads of state, strong economic ties and strategic energy partnership are key factors in the development of bilateral and regional cooperation.

It was noted that cooperation in the field of oil and gas is already yielding real results. In the first 5 months this year, 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to Georgia. Discussions were also held on the implementation of green energy corridor and interconnector projects on the export, transit of electricity, energy supply to European countries via the Black Sea submarine cable and land line jointly with Georgia. Emphasizing the strategic importance of the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor for both countries, the project was assessed as an important stage in deepening cooperation. During the conversation, attention was paid to joint measures to ensure progress in the Green Energy Corridor and Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria interconnector projects, and the intensification of coordinated activities was agreed.

Azerbaijan has been invited to the Silk Road Forum to be held in Georgia on 23 October 2025.
