Azerbaijan's total installed power generation capacity has reached 10,072.5 MW following the commissioning of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant and the 100 MW Gobustan Solar Power Plant this year.

Renewables.az reports that this was stated in an article by Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, published in Azerbaijan newspaper.

The country's power system currently comprises 24 thermal power plants with a combined capacity of 7,903 MW, 65 hydropower plants with 1,443.4 MW, 10 solar power plants with 381.9 MW, six wind power plants with 306.5 MW, and a municipal solid waste-to-energy plant with a capacity of 37.7 MW.

"The total installed capacity of renewable energy power plants, including hydropower, stands at 2,169.6 MW, accounting for approximately 21.5% of the country's total installed capacity. Over the past year, in addition to generation capacity, the power grid's capacity has increased by 1,540 MVA, reaching 31,429.9 MVA," the article noted.
