Deputy Energy Minister Orkhan Zeynalov attended the 29th Annual Government Roundtable held by The Economist Impact Platform in Athens, Greece.
Speaking at the panel session on Regional and Inter-regional Cooperation in Energy and the Challenges for Energy Security and Transition, the Deputy Minister spoke about the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor, the important role of Europe and Greece in energy security, and the possibility of increasing gas supplies to Europe in the future through this corridor. He spoke about the projects implemented in Azerbaijan in the field of energy, especially in the field of energy transition, renewable energy, green energy corridors initiatives. Noting the importance of the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor, it was noted that these and other green energy corridors will make an important contribution to ensuring Europe's energy security. It was noted that cooperation with some Asian countries and companies was carried out within the framework of these projects. The importance of multilateral cooperation opportunities in strengthening regional energy ties and diversifying green energy transportation routes was brought to the attention. The importance of public and private sector cooperation to prevent the energy crisis and ensure energy security was emphasized.
During the visit, the deputy minister met with Greek Deputy Energy Minister Nikos Tsafos, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Theoharis and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Junghietu. The issues of cooperation in the field of energy were discussed at the meetings.
