Within the Energy Efficiency and Climate project implemented under the Azerbaijan Rapid Technical Assistance Facility (AZTAF), executed by the World Bank and financed by the European Union, an awareness-raising training on lending for energy efficiency projects using the resources of the Energy Efficiency Fund was organized by the Ministry of Energy in Shamakhi for individuals and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.

The main objective of the training was to transfer international experience in financing energy efficiency projects to local institutional stakeholders and partner banks, as well as to develop mechanisms for the implementation of energy efficiency credit lines.

During the two-day training, participants were provided with comprehensive information on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies for buildings, lending procedures, eligibility criteria, and energy savings calculations.  World Bank experts Rainer Behnke and Besim Islami presented international experience, typical energy efficiency projects across various sectors, and algorithms for managing credit lines.

Participants in the training included the representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency, Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, as well as the State Housing Development Agency (MIDA), the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, SOCAR GREEN LLC, partner banks, and potential energy auditors.
