The Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Europe Energy Corridor, which passes through Nakhchivan, plays a significant role in strengthening regional energy interconnections. In the initial phase, the project envisages the transmission of 1 GW of electricity from Nakhchivan to Türkiye.

Renewables.az reports that this was stated in an article by Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, published in Azerbaijan newspaper.

"For this purpose, the 330 kV Jabrayil substation has been constructed and connected to the national power grid. The next phase envisages the construction of a new 330 kV substation in Nakhchivan and its connection to Jabrayil through transmission lines with a capacity of 1,000 MW. Construction work on the Jabrayil–Aghband transmission line is nearing completion, while construction continues on the section from the Armenian border to Nakhchivan. The foundation of the substation in Nakhchivan has also been laid. The final phase will involve the construction of a 400 kV converter substation and electricity transmission lines. Completing this interconnection through the TRIPP route could pave the way for the establishment of a Central Asia–Azerbaijan–Türkiye energy bridge, linking the power systems of Turkic states located on both shores of the Caspian Sea. As the President of Azerbaijan has emphasised, our energy policy goes beyond energy diversification and energy security. It creates new connections between countries, promotes stronger relations and helps build mutual trust among all participating nations," the article stated.
