Online meeting held between AERA and EMRA specialists

An online meeting of the Regulations Working Group under the 4th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum was held between the specialists of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) and the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA). 

Mustafa Yavuzdemir and Elmar Gulaliyev, co-chairs of the Working Group from EMRA and AERA, welcomed the meeting participants and emphasized that these meetings are beneficial for both sides.

Metin Shikhiyev, a specialist from AERA’s Liberalization in Energy Sector Division, delivered a presentation titled “Practical Steps Taken in Azerbaijan Toward the Transition to Green Energy and the Role of the Regulator”. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential, set goals, existing projects, and legislative innovations.

Murat Aldı, an energy specialist from EMRA, presented on “Renewable Energy Support Mechanisms in Türkiye and Development of Battery Energy Storage Systems for the Grid”. He shared insights on renewable energy support mechanisms in Türkiye, investment incentives and legislative innovations. He also talked about the role of battery energy storage systems in grid stability, implemented projects, and Türkiye’s experience related to the current legislative framework.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on the future cooperation directions of the Working Group.
