RusHydro PJSC is considering engaging Chinese companies in the construction of the Mutnovskaya Geothermal Power Plant-2 in Kamchatka, the company reported after the Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in renewable energy, 1.ru. reported.
Kamchatka currently operates three geothermal plants with a combined capacity of 74 MW. Joint design work with Chinese partners is underway on the 16.5 MW binary power unit of the Skalnaya GeoTPP, located near the existing Mutnovskaya GeoTPP-1.
RusHydro is also assessing technological and investment cooperation for Mutnovskaya GeoES-2, planned as a flagship facility for geothermal development in Russia and internationally, incorporating advanced binary-cycle and sustainable energy solutions for remote regions.
