Azerbaijan-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Energy holds second meeting

The second meeting of the Joint Working Group on Energy in online format between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held at the Ministry of Energy. The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Kamal Abbasov and Joint Secretary for Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy, Government of Pakistan. The Azerbaijani side was represented by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, SOCAR, the Azerbaijan Investment Holding, and AzerGold CJSC, while the Pakistani side was represented by the Ministry of Energy, Pakistan State Oil, as well as other companies operating in the energy and mining sectors.

The Deputy Minister stressed that fraternal relations based on mutual respect and strategic cooperation have been formed between Azerbaijan and Pakistan for many years. He also called on energy companies to explore new opportunities and deepen the current commercial partnership between the two states.

Subsequently, in line with the meeting agenda, discussions were held on the current state of cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries and future prospects. The Pakistani side noted that work has already begun to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in oil and gas, mining, and mineral projects, and that certain steps have been taken in these areas.
